Ms. Ruthie Mae Causey was born on September 14, 1957 to the late Lula Callie Conway Causey and Douglas Clifton Causey Sr. of Jackson, Mississippi. She transitioned to her heavenly home on Sunday, February 14, 2021, at the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS.
She confessed Christ at an early age and later in life united with New Horizon Church International where she served as faithful member. She matriculated through Jackson Public Schools as follows: Sallie Reynold Elementary, Blackburn Middle School, Provine High School and Jackson State University where she completed her Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She was employed for years at Jackson Public Schools (Marshall Elementary) and later at Hudspeth Regional Center.
Ruthie was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Causey Hogan, Luvilla Causey and one brother, James Junior Causey.
Throughout her life, she had a passion for helping others. If there was something that needed to be done, Ruthie volunteered to complete the task.
She is survived by her siblings, Margaret Underwood, Jackson, MS, Mamie Rushing, Ridgeland, MS, Bonnie Causey Ridgeland, MS, two brothers, Douglas Clifton Causey, Jackson, MS and Don (Gwendolyn) Causey Ridgeland, MS, one aunt Naomi Thurmond, St. Louis MO, a special nephew, Acoye Rushing, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Ms. Causey will be Sunday, February 21, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Peoples Funeral Home, 886 North Farish Street, Jackson, MS 39202.
Graveside services for Ruthie and her brother James will on Monday, February 22, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Autumn Woods Memorial Gardens, 4000 W. Northside Drive, Jackson, Mississippi.
