Mrs. Yolanda Barker Brooks or “Pooh,” as she was affectionately known, was born on November 10, 1975 in Jackson, MS to the Charles Barker, Sr. and the late Earnestine B. Taylor. On the morning of Wednesday, March 2, 2022, the Lord extended his hand to Yolanda Barker Brooks. Her spirit left her earthly body and was escorted by the angels to eternal rest in Heaven.
She gave her life to Christ at an early age at Friendship Baptist Church under the late Pastor Nathaniel Booker. Yolanda was educated in the Jackson Public School District. She attended Dawson Elementary, Brinkley Junior High School, and Callaway High School. As an adult, she was actively employed in Sales and Retail. At the time of her passing, she was an employee of Walmart. Yolanda enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and spending time with her family and friends.
Yolanda leaves to cherish her loving memories, a husband of 14 years, Adran Brooks; her father, Charles Lee Barker Sr. (Delores); stepmother, Frances Barker (deceased); stepfather, Sammie L. Taylor; brothers: Renardo R. Murray (Alicia), Charles L. Barker, Jr. (Jamacia), Darryl Rollins, Anthony Rollins, Reno Rollins (deceased); sisters: Tonya Foster (Reginald), Jennifer Hartley (Levon), Jacqueline Galloway (Walter), and Sharon Legget (deceased); Godson, Bentley Burrell; uncles: Charlie Murray and Stanley Barker; aunts: Sharon Kelly (Charles), Betty Barker Tolliver (Willie), Dorothy Murray (deceased), and Barbara Ann Murray (deceased); and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Viewing for Mrs. Yolanda Barker Brooks will begin on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at Peoples Funeral Home, 886 North Farish Street, Jackson, Mississippi from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
Funeral services for Mrs. Yolanda Barker Brooks will be Graveside at Autumn Woods Cemetery, 4000 West Northside Drive, Jackson, Mississippi at 12:00 noon, Thursday, March 10, 2022.
