Mr. O.D. Snell's mortality began on September 18, 1932, in New Hebron, MS. He was the fourth of six children born to Simpson and Mamie Snell, both of whom preceded him in death. O.D. professed Christ at an early age at North Pleasant Hill Church.
O.D. moved to Chicago Illinois in 1956. There he was an employee at Campbell Soup and later at the Chicago Board of Education where he worked until retirement. O.D. was a member of Grace Conservative Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and Sunday school teacher. Most importantly, O.D. loved the lord and eagerly shared the joy that he found in living for and serving him with everyone he knew. After moving back to Mississippi, O.D. became a member of Mt. Wade Baptist church where he served as Deacon.

On November 20, 1957 He married Johnnie Preston Morris, as O.D. would say, “we were married 40 years 11 months and 19 days.” She preceded him in death. To this union 4 children were born.

Monday morning, August 10, 2021 the Lord summoned his servant home. 2 Corinthians 5:8 reads: “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and present with the Lord.” So we are confident that O.D. has entered into the unspeakable joy of being in the presence of God….

Leaving not to mourn his passing but to cherish his memory are his children: Cheryl (Mozelle) Cooper of Jackson, MS; Gerald Snell of Jackson, MS; Kenneth (Ora) Snell of Marietta, GA; Kelvin Snell of Jackson, MS; and then there was (1)….his brother, Other Snell of Jackson, MS; (1) brother-in-law,  Lenton (Ann) Morris of St. Louis, MO; (15) grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Four siblings preceded him in death. O.D. was a mighty man of God who will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral Services will be held Monday 08/16/21 at 1:00 p.m. at North Pleasant hills located on 495 N. Pleasant Hill Rd. New Hebron, MS 39140
