Obituary

     Lee Otis Simmons was born March 18, 1935, in Flora, Mississippi, to Tommie Lee Simmons, Sr and Mary Russell. 
 

     Lee Otis accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was a member of Cade Chapel M. B. Church. He was a faithful member of the National Laymen’s Movement.

     Lee Otis graduated from Lanier High School in 1954 in Jackson, MS. After graduating from high school, he attended Jackson State University and Mortuary School in Atlanta, GA. 
On December 28, 1968, Lee Otis married Catherine Simmons. He was a loving husband. Loved his children and grandchildren. Had great knowledge of the family's history. Didn't meet a stranger. Always kept in touch with his extended family.  Otis was a community person, he never met a stranger.  He had a great sense of humor. 

 

     The Lord called Lee Otis home on May 20, 2021. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Tommie Lee Simmons, Sr and Mary Russell; two sisters: Carrie Lee Russell and Onia Mae Motton; two brothers: B.C. Simmons and Tommie Lee Simmons, Jr; Step Mother, Corena P. Simmons. 
 

     He is survived by: his wife, Catherine Simmons; his children, Deborah C. Franklin of Jackson, MS, and Malinda (Larry) Jones of Beltsville, MD; two sisters, Julia Thaggard of Flora, MS, and Rebecca Craig of Las Vegas, NV; two brothers, C.B. Simmons of Jackson, MS, and Donald Burse of Las Vegas, NV; five grandchildren, Derrick Carlisle, Tiffany Carlisle, Shayla Carlisle, Melissa Jones and Senteria Jones; four great-grandchildren; a special family, The Andrew family; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation for Mr. Lee Otis Simmons will be held on Friday, May 28, 2021 at Peoples Funeral Home, 886 North Farish Street, Jackson, MS from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Cade Chapel M. B. Church, 1000 W. Ridgeway Street, Jackson, MS.  His Final Rest Place will be at Autumn Woods Cemetery, 4000 W. Northside Drive, Jackson, MS.
