Obituary

Mr. James Leonard Pettie was born on August 11, 1959 in Jackson, Mississippi to the Late Mr. Franklin Pettie Sr. and Miss Mattie Mae Catchings. James was the third of (7) seven children.

Mr. James resided in Los Angeles, California for the last past 25 plus years. He attended and a Graduated from Lanier High School Non-other then  833 West Maple Street in 1978. Where he played in the BAND. Mr. James continued his education at Jackson State University and was a member of SONIC BOOM OF THE SOUTH. He had a passion for Music, playing the drums and other instruments. James wrote and coordinated various music, and Loved to sing with various groups and bands. 

Mr. James Leonard Pettie attended Greater Fairview Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend S.L. Spann. 

Mr. James was proceeded in death of his father Mr. Frank Pettie Sr., his (2) two sisters Joyce Pettie and Sonia Pettie, (2) two grandmothers Leola Hughes and Catherine Jackson and his Uncle Ed Jackson, Jr. all of Jackson, Mississippi 

James leaves to cherish his life a loving and caring Mother Ms. Mattie Mae Catchings, A blended family of (4) four children: Marquita Genell Moore, Marion Terrell Moore form Jackson, MS. Jasamine Renee' Pettie and Brandy Cecile Pettie from Baton Rouge Louisiana, (1) one sister Alberta Catching Hubbard (Vonzell, (7) seven brothers, Frank Pettie (Shirley), Leonard Gray (Ethel). Earl Pettie, Clifton Louis Pettie, Danny Frank Pettie, Tony Jerome Catchings (Barbara), Willie Gene Catchings (Victoria) all of Jackson, MS. (7) seven Grandchildren and A host of Uncles, Aunts, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Friends who LOVED him dearly. 

Mr. James Leonard Pettie, answer to the call too his heavenly home and gained his wings on a Wednesday April  27, 2021 in Los Angeles, California.

Refection Of Life: To Everything There Is A Season,  and A Time To Every Purpose Under The Heaven... Ecclesiastes 3: 1

Visitation will be held here in Peoples Funeral Home Chapel of Jackson on Friday May 21, 2021 from 12:00 noon until 7:00 p.m.

The Staff of Peoples Funeral will be conducting the Funeral Services on Saturday May 22, 2021 time 2:00 p.m. here at Peoples Funeral Home.

Interment: Autumn Woods Memorial Park Cemetery - 4000 W. Northside Drive - Jackson, Mississippi 39209.
