Howard Wilson Sr. was born on September 10, 1931 in Canton, MS to the late Walter Wilson and Lillian Jeffrey Turner.
He accepted Christ at an early age. He joined the fellowship of New Hopewell M. B. Church under the leadership of the late Rev. W.W. Warren and currently Rev. Dr. Jay Jackson. He served faithfully as a Deacon for over 40 years. He was a Male Choir member and Board Member. He was also a Member of the Board of Directors (26 years) and Senior Social Club (7 years) of the Genesis and Light Center.
On September 21, 1957 he married the love of his life, the late Mildred Harris Wilson (m.1957-2003). He married the late Earlean Lofton Wilson on September 10, 2004 (m.2004-2011).
He ran his own small business for many years. His greatest achievement was his passion for God, Family and People! Howard never met a stranger and could never say “no” to a good Spade game! He was blessed with wisdom, faith, longevity, and an amazing ability to love. He was our comedian, our counselor, our encourager, our example, our giver, our hero, our motivator, our teacher, and He was God’s soldier. He was not only the Patriarch of the Wilsons, but also a faithful friend to families and the greatest granddaddy to generations.
He leaves to celebrate his life and legacy, two sisters: Arelia Blackmon and the Lucille Simmons (deceased); 16 children: Robert Harris, Lillie Harris (deceased), Glory (Carl) Fulton, Howard Wilson Jr., Eddie L. Williamson (deceased), Annie Wilson, Dorothy (Fred) Lewis, Albert (Kim) Wilson, Donnell Wilson, Walter West, Arnetta (Dwayne) Wells, Stephanie (Ronnie) Martin, Timmie Mitchell, Limmie Mitchell (deceased), Victoria Wilson (deceased) and Facheryl Wilson.
He leaves to cherish his memory 29 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren, a special cousin, Rose Pollard (91 years old of Cleveland, OH), and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
