Harold L. Moman, Sr. was the second of three sons born to Alton Bismarck, Sr. and Ella Thomas Moman of Tougaloo, Mississippi.  Born March 18, 1935, Harold departed this life on April 17, 2021.  Harold was father to four children, Janice Deborah Moman, Highland Park, IL; Angela Mariella Moman (who preceded him in death November 23, 1965); Andrea AnnaLynn Moman, M.D., Madison, MS; and Harold Leon Moman, II, Atlanta, GA.  Harold was preceded in death by his older brother, Alton Bismarck, Jr. March 25, 2003, and is survived by his younger brother, Robert E. Moman.

Harold obtained his B.S. degree in Mathematics from Tougaloo College, where he was also inducted as a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.  He furthered his educational training at Jackson State University, where he earned his M.S. and Ed.Sp. degrees in Education Administration.

Harold devoted 32 years of his life as a Mathematics educator in Mississippi, having taught in Moss Point, Hinds County, and Jackson Public School Districts.  He was beloved by all of his students and peers, and although he was a strict disciplinarian, he was often recognized as his students’ “favorite teacher.”

Harold also served as an active duty member of the United States Armed Forces (Army) for three years.  He enjoyed playing golf and watching the Discovery, History, and Animal Planet television channels.  As an automobile enthusiast, he favored fast cars and convertibles.  Harold loved to cook and grill, and always had hilarious life-stories or tales to share with friends and family.  He also had a special bond with many dogs throughout his life, and most were named “Pup”.

Harold leaves to cherish his loving memory two daughters; one son; three grandsons, Abraham, Derek, Jr., and Josuf; four granddaughters, Gertrude (Trudy), Jessica, Gabriella, and Angela; two great granddaughters, Zinobia and Ella; one great, great granddaughter, Zinora; one brother, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of family friends.

In addition to the family members listed, these individuals were very dear friends to Harold —Marque and Mavis Chambliss, Jackson, MS.
