Mr. Emmanuel "Vick" Washington

Bro. Emmanuel Victor Washington was born in Flora, MS on November 18, 1931. He was the eldest of five children born to the late Henry Lee and Lucy McElroy Washington, Sr. He was preceded in death by two daughters: Dorothy Ann Sanders and Doristene Washington and one son: Eunice Singleton and three sisters: Anna B. Washington, Mary Jane Ealey and Rubye Evege.

Emmanuel, affectionately known as “Vick” was a faithful member of the Smith Chapel M.B. Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. Charles T. Simmons and later Rev. Dr. Jonathan T. Phillips, Jr.

Vick was employed with three local manufacturing plants including MPI, Pipers Industries and Carson & Brooks before retiring to become a fulltime private contractor, owning his own lawn care service. All the customers he serviced loved Mr. Vick.

Vick’s favorite pastime was hanging out with the guys at Mr. Fluke Kelly’s Shop, on the porch with Calvin or under the tree with Charles. One of his greatest joys was grooming the church’s lawn and cemetery.

Vick received his reward on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at St. Dominic’s Hospital. Vick will be lovingly remembered and forever cherished by his two daughters: Patricia Ann Thompson of Flora, Mississippi and Mary(George) McCree of Detroit, Michigan; one son: Willie “Bill” C. (Mary) Washington of Bolton, Mississippi; one brother: Henry Washington, Jr. of Westwego, Louisiana; sixteen grandchildren: Deidra (Keith) Reed, Anthony Washington, Alexander Washington, Adam(Alexis) Washington, Tracey B. Sanders(Cynthia), Maurice Sanders, Broderick Washington, Maurice(Dalsheree) Washington, Mance E. McCree, Melanie McCree, Kimberly McCree-Davis, Janice McCree (Carl) Randolph, Tameka McCree, George McCree, Jr., Alecia McCree(Javon) Duhart and Marvis Singleton; 32 great grandchildren, 25 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.


Visitation hours will be held Friday 04/22/22 from 12-2 p.m. at Peoples Funeral Home then from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Smith Chapel M. B. Church, 323 Livingston Vernon Road, Flora, Mississippi

Graveside Services will be held Saturday 04/23/22 at 11:00 a.m. at Smith Chapel Cemetery located on 323 Livingston Vernon Rd. Flora, MS 39071
