Mr. Brandon Carl Mock was born October 25, 1979 in New Orleans, LA to Ms. Shela (Valteau) Mock and Mr. William C. Mock. On Saturday, September 25, 2021, Brandon departed this life peacefully at Select Specialty Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi.
Brandon attended Orleans Parish Schools, McDonogh 39 Elementary and Eleanor McMain Magnet High School. After completing two years at Delgado Community College and UNO, Brandon was drawn to the food and beverage industry, where he worked for the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, the Essence Music Festival, Delta Queen Steamboat Company, the Praline Connection, and spent 10+ years with the Ritz Carlton Hotel.
Brandon, who made Jackson, Mississippi his home in 2013, was employed by various restaurants over the years, including Nick’s, Char, Logan’s Roadhouse, and SodexoMagic with Jackson State University dining services. Brandon was a fun-loving, funny, energetic, multi-talented, food and beverage connoisseur with a love of gourmet, creole and French cuisine. He was an expert billiard player who often competed locally in the sport. He was a faithful New Orleans Saints Football fan, who was very charismatic with a smile that would light up any room. He will be truly missed by all who came in contact with him.
Brandon leaves to cherish his memory, his beautiful daughter Sophia, his loving and devoted mother, Shela Valteau Mock; father, William C. Mock; his loving grandmother, Rita D. Valteau, sisters: Tiffany (Alwin) Dockins, Candice (Edward) Prevot, Khaisha Batiste and step-sister, Maresa Robichaux; step-brothers: Chad (Lakeisha) Robichaux and Joshua (Tanya) Robichaux; aunts: Suzette (Mike, deceased) Dummett, Chalita (Joseph) Laurent, Jacinta (Lionel) Bazanac, Jennifer (Allyson) Valteau: one uncle, Charles J. Valteau, III; special cousins: Nabii Bastet and Cicley Broomfield; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather Charles J. Valteau, Jr., grandmothers: Estelle Monette Valteau and Gladys Mock, step-father Brian “Zahav” Robichaux and his devoted aunts Glenda Broomfield and Virginia Mock.
A Memorial Service will be held in Covington, LA, on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. to celebrate Brandon’s Life and honor his memory on the weekend of what would have been Brandon’s 42nd birthday.
