Alonza Mosley, Jr. was born July 28, 1948, in Florence, MS to the late Mr. Alonza and Mrs. Marie Mosley. He was the fourth child born to this union. He departed this life on Saturday, June 26, 2021. Two brothers: Joe D. Mosley and Aron Mosley; and one sister, Wenona Mosley Green all preceded him in death.
Mr. Mosley united in marriage with Rose Mary Huband in 1969 and to this union came three children. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Lakesha Mosley.
Alonza Mosley Jr., known to himself as Elonzo or Alonzo, was convinced his name was spelled wrong on his birth certificate so no one ever called him Alonza. Many knew him as Junior, a few as daddy. Throughout his life, he enjoyed fishing for some of the best catfish on the Reservoir along with many family and friends. He also cooked some of the best southern foods like onions and potatoes and the grandchildren's favorite, spaghetti. Luckily for those who he left behind in life, he left a deep freezer full of prepped foods and an heirloom of fishing poles.
He leaves to cherish and not to mourn his memory: one son, Mr. Alonzo Mosley, Jr. and one daughter, Sandra (Stan) Harris both of Jackson; MS; five brothers: Al (Masie) Mosley of Bolton, MS; John (Susan) Mosley of Terry, MS; Paul (Louis) Mosley of Jackson, MS; Clipper Mosley of Jackson, MS; Raymond Mosley of Portland, OR; two sisters: Penny (Sam) Ross of Jackson, MS; and Mary (Claude) James of Itta Bena, MS; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren: Nevaeh and Ziona; a very special friend and supportive former spouse, Rose Mary Scott and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
