Minister Theodis Simmons, Sr. was born August 21, 1946, in Hinds County, MS, to the late Willie Simmons, Jr. and the late Lilly Morse Reed-Simmons. Theodis Simmons, Sr. attended Brinkley High School and Is the youngest Son of eighteen children. Theodis Simmons, Sr. accepted Christ at an early age while attending Good Samaritan Baptist Church. Throughout his adult life he continued to proclaim the gospel of Christ through witnessing, teaching, and ministering. His favorite saying was “God is (fill in the blank)” and it was his faith that continually carried him until the end.
Theodis Simmons met and married Marilyn Wright in 1996. This marriage was blessed for over 25 years. Theodis provided for his family as the proprietor of “Simmons Construction and General Contractor” for over 40 years. Theodis loved nothing more than to be in the company of his children while taking memorable photos.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Marilyn Simmons; his sister; Florese Simmons; his children: Theodis Simmons Jr (Angela), Debbie Cheeks (Ronnie), Evelyn Robinson (the Late Bishop Howard), Deesha Brown, Michael Simmons (Ivy), Anthony Simmons, Antonio Simmons (Wanda), Jerry Pollard Jr (T’Keyah), Angel LeBeau (Chris), and Goddaughter: Dominique Thomas; Twenty-nine Grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews’, family and friends.
There will be a Family and Friends Hour for Min. Theodis Simmons, Sr. on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at 6:30 p.m. at Peoples Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services for Min. Theodis Simmons, Sr. will be at Peoples Funeral Home Chapel, 886 North Farish Street, Jackson, Mississippi at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 11, 2021 with his final resting place being, Autumn Woods Cemetery, 4000 West Northside Drive, Jackson, Mississippi.
